Employment of personal care and service occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations, which will result in about 792,100 new jobs. Personal care aides are expected to account for 6 out of 10 of these new jobs. Personal care aides assist clients with daily living activities and demand for their services will grow as the elderly population increases.

Personal care and service occupations had a median annual wage of $21,850 in May 2015, which is lower than the median annual wage for all occupations of $36,200.

Animal Care and Service Workers

Animal care and service workers provide care for animals. They feed, groom, bathe, and exercise pets and other nonfarm animals. Job tasks vary by position and place of work.

Manicurists and pedicurists clean, shape, and beautify fingernails and toenails.
