Entry Level Technical Sales Representative

My client is a small but rapidly growing organization, supported by a first-class, global company based in Japan.  They are focused on “Enabling Technology Innovators”, and are bringing real innovation to their customers through advanced technology, unparalleled support, and a commitment to quality. Our key markets are Medical and Telecommunications, but as we grow we will pursue other markets as well. Our applications tend to be custom (not products from a catalog), so our business requires excellent communication, flexibility, and broad business/product knowledge to give the customer a great experience. We work within a progressive, informal environment which provides a great sense of teamwork, accomplishment and fulfillment.

This opportunity is focused on our medical product portfolio, and is based in our West Coast sales office, located in Irvine, California. As a key member of the USA and European business unit, you will drive the sustainable growth of sales by executing on regional business development opportunities primarily focused on the OEM and contract catheter manufacturer (CMM) markets in California.

Your core responsibilities will include:

·       Sustain and develop ongoing business development opportunities within your territory

·       Create new opportunities by “multiplying success’ on applications where we have demonstrated value

·       Achieve and enhance approved supplier list status for all key customers

·       Leverage strategic selling practices to ensure long term profitable growth in key accounts

·       Deliver detailed market analysis of competitor’s portfolio, pricing and innovations to ensure we remain ahead of the market

·       Maintain a balance between new business development and existing customer account management

·       Attend regular visits to prospective customers outlining key products within your portfolio

·       Provide colleagues with detailed reports including progress updates and forecasts

·       Partner with global teams on new initiatives like ERP or CRM introductions

·       Able to work cross culturally with the teams in Japan and the UK, as well as with customers from around the world

About you:

·       A Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 3 years experience in technical sales, key account management, or business development

·       Technical, business, or scientific degrees are preferred, as is experience with components for medical device manufacture

·       A second language, especially Japanese or Spanish, is preferred

·       A proactive, ‘self-starter’ who has the drive, capability and ambition to work with local and international colleagues and ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales process

·       Open to frequent change and ongoing personal development

·       An aptitude to absorb, interpret and relay technical information about our products and our customer’s applications

·       Outstanding attention to detail

·       Cultural awareness and sensitivity

·       Ability to travel 25-50% of the time
