Google Named Entry Level Technology Employer of Choice by CollegeGrad.com

College grad job seekers pick Google as their employer of choice over Microsoft, Yahoo and IBM

MILWAUKEE, WI--November 20, 2006--CollegeGrad.com, the #1 entry level job site, today released its survey results naming Google as the top choice technology employer among entry level job seekers for the second year in a row. Respondents selected Google as their first choice over Microsoft, Yahoo or IBM.

For the second year in a row, Google has beat out Microsoft as the technology employer of choice among entry level job seekers. Even though Microsoft has long had an edge in recruiting top entry level talent, the popularity of innovative Web technology companies such as Google and Yahoo has grown. In this year's results, Google garnered a commanding 49% preference in the top four technology rankings among entry level job seekers.

"We are witnessing a profound change in employer preference among college students as Google establishes itself not only as a market leader, but as an employment leader," said Brian Krueger, president of CollegeGrad.com. "Even as Google hires away some of the top technical talent from Microsoft, the same trend is also carrying through to the entry level job market."

The current tech-savvy generation is buzzing with technology ideas surrounding trends toward Web 2.0, online video, user-generated content and more. In addition to providing a positive and inspiring work environment, Google is known for introducing increasingly innovative technology to the public. And entry level job seekers can't wait to add their ideas to the mix.

"When a company provides a fun and inspiring work environment and combines that with great products and services, they set themselves apart not only as an industry leader, but as a world leader," says Krueger. "Intelligent and creative talent will be drawn to this type of environment. Google is the magnet for top entry level talent in the technology field."

Following are the overall survey results:

Who would you rather work for?

  • Google - 49%
  • Microsoft - 29%
  • Yahoo - 12%
  • IBM - 10%

The survey was conducted nationally using an online poll placed on the CollegeGrad.com home page during October, 2006. The results are based on more than 1,600 respondents.
