Your role in helping us shape the future:

The chosen candidate will work as part of a team within U.S. News Education assisting with a subscription-based analytics platform, Academic Insights. This platform is a data repository and visualization tool comprising the historical and unpublished data and historical rankings behind U.S. News’ Best Colleges, Best Graduate Schools, Best Online Programs and Best High Schools. The platform allows subscribing schools to view this data, export high-level charts and graphs, and support various offices on campus involved in competitive intelligence and benchmarking projects. In addition to the platform, the chosen candidate will be exposed to other parts of the business including marketing, finance, legal processes, and technical development.

The Sales Coordinator will facilitate the day to day maintenance of accounts, identify and prepare targets for new business generation, and assist with the administrative functions of the sales operation. They are responsible for identifying, researching, inputting, and tracking potential new sales leads into the Academic Insights database and supporting efforts to convert them to new revenue. Tasks range from data entry to customer service oriented outreach via phone and email. Involves frequent communication amongst managers and team members and juggling a constant influx of work while applying an understanding of our product, business, and strategy. Time management, a strong initiative to follow through on research activity and the ability to make and foster connections is a must.

Are you up to the challenge?

Client Relations: Build and maintain rapport with new and existing clients through excellent service. Handle administrative functions of an account involving response to requests/inquiries, client onboarding, and client feedback.

Drive New Business: Gather intelligence to identify target readers and organizations and build a pipeline. Conduct research to determine relevant departments/groups within organizations that may have a need for our services. Generate traction and facilitate hand-offs to Account Executives.

Outreach: Reach out to potential clients with marketing materials and set up demonstrations with Account Executives.

Achieve Domain Knowledge: Develop an understanding of both the platform and U.S. News' data and methodologies to effectively identify target clients.


You should definitely have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 1 or more years of sales or business development experience
  • A rich sense of client service and support
  • Strong communication skills and collaboration skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills
  • Can work collaboratively with a team or independently, as needed
  • The ability to travel to industry events and represent U.S. News

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience collaborating with product management teams
  • Experience in the education industry (experience in higher education strongly preferred)
  • Experience working with a CRM
  • Experience with B2B recurring revenue sales model
  • Proficient in Excel
