Psychology Schools, Online Degrees and Programs

The field of psychology concerns the study of human behavior associated with mental processes. Psychologists work in a broad range of settings, many of them academic in nature or revolving around research. Teaching positions at universities and research institutes typically employ folks (along with independent specialists with psychology degrees) holding Ph.D.s and other advanced degrees. Just over a third of degree-holders are self-employed. Psychology academics are needed as writers for publishers of texts on the subject of psychology. For example, one company was recently looking for writers with undergraduate teaching experience to assist in the development of their interactive learning tool for psychology students. Competition is keen for many positions, with master's degrees a prerequisite for many positions. Those with B.A. degrees may find entry-level positions such as behavioral intake counselor for rehab centers, non-profits, and governmental agencies--among others.
